Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll spotlight the fine Virginia wineries and breweries participating in this year’s Wine & Beer Classic. First on the list: Williamsburg Winery.
Williamsburg Winery is the state’s largest winery, accounting for almost a quarter of all wine produced in the state of Virginia! The winery is perhaps best known for their award-winning Governor’s White, its first wine produced (which won a Gold Medal two weeks after its initial release in 1988).
Williamsburg Winery is located less than an hour from Richmond, perfectly situated for a winery tour and tasting. Visit on a Thursday night, and you can enjoy a special food & wine pairing at the winery’s restaurant, the Gabriel Archer Tavern. If you choose to spend the night or the weekend, the Wedmore Place at Williamsburg Winery offers luxe accommodations.
